CCDO provides high quality technical and management support to the institutions/concerns working in development sectors primarily targeting poor and underprivileged people. CCDO has major areas of work: Supporting community based adaptation initiatives to cope with the adverse effects of climate change and environmental protection, research, monitoring and Evaluation, health and livelihoods improvements, Training and Capacity Building, women empowerment through microfinance, ICT and cultural heritage and tourism promotion, and increasing women, and youth awareness on good governance programs. Recent activities of CCDO focused in climate change and environment protection, health and livelihoods improvement, education, ICT and vocational training for poor marginalized youth and women for the design, implementation and development activities.

Our Commitment
CCDO is committed to using the existing bona fide efforts to salvage the people of Tanzania from the calamity of a number of environmental shocks and diseases. To that end CCDO is prepared to provide technical, logistic and programmatic support to the Ministry of Environment and Health, Social Welfare, Children and Gender by working closely with local, national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
- Contribute in using the existing local knowledge and skill through competency based trainings for capacity development
- Develop a locally appropriate and innovative ways of implementing prevention, care and treatment services
- Advocates for the use of contracting out services for private providers to develop a mutually beneficial approach of providing services such as health and livelihoods improvements, HIV testing and referrals, trainings, and actual health services.
- Strengthening the capacity of farmers and pastoralists in coping with the adverse effects of climate change and addressing drivers of deforestation and forest degradation through community-based interventions.
Area of coverage
CCDO facilitates the development of commercial and climate smart horticulture value chains. We enable value chain actors to improve markets with the objective to increasing incomes and make safe and nutritious foods available to consumers. We develop market-based services that increase production, link markets with farmers, and professionalize service provision. We work with partners and governments to create an enabling environment and accelerate investments in the sector.
Recent Project
The global fruit and vegetable market is estimated to be worth over €2.5 billion and is expected to grow with increased incomes and urban populations. At the same time, two billion people still suffer from malnutrition and would benefit from an improved diet. Professionalising local value chains offers opportunities to meet this demand and contribute to sustainable development.
The challenge
Producers in developing countries often have low yields, over-use pesticides (i.e. 200,000 people die annually as a result of overuse and inadequate pesticide use), and lack proper post-harvest management skills (i.e. half of the world’s fruit and vegetable production goes to waste). Farmers also suffer from a lack of business connections and financing, climate change impacts, restrictive regulatory environments, and insufficient access to information; all constraining possibilities to grow the sector and increase incomes.
